At FemTruth Youth (FTY), our journey began in 2020 with a mission to tackle critical issues through the powerful mediums of art and advocacy. We first focused on breaking the silence surrounding menstrual and mental health, fostering open and honest conversations that set the stage for our ongoing commitment to education and empowerment. As our organization grew, so did our vision. With the launch of FTY Goes Green and the Green Kit Program, we adopted a holistic approach, expanding our focus to include the impact of endocrine disruptors, our carbon footprint, and the significance of conscious purchasing habits. Girls and young women are increasingly recognized as influential consumers within the broader economy, shaping not just trends but also household purchasing decisions. In the U.S., teens spend an estimated $77 billion annually, with a substantial portion driven by girls. Through FTY’s programs, we empower girls with the information and awareness needed to make informed consumer choices that will directly impact their future. Our work within local high schools and middle schools is comprehensive. FTY clubs provide workshops, presentations, and performances. Through our pop-up shops we raise funds to donate Green Kits to girls in need proving sustainable solutions for the 20% of girls missing school due to period poverty. These initiatives extend beyond education, providing essential resources and fostering the confidence young girls need to succeed academically, lead with purpose, and realize their full potential. Our evolution reflects our unwavering dedication to equipping girls with the knowledge and skills to make informed decisions, advocate for themselves, and live sustainably. We are proud of how far we've come and excited for the future as we continue to empower the next generation of leaders. --- Testimonial “FemTruth Youth has been life-changing in shaping who we are and how we approach period- and health-related products. From challenging taboos to raising awareness about sustainability, we've empowered ourselves to make a difference. This experience has not only broadened our understanding of female health and wellness issues but also instilled in us a sense of responsibility to continue educating ourselves and serving as ambassadors within our generation, families, and communities.” — Green Team Interns, 2024
